Thirsk and Malton Conservatives won eleven out of twelve seats at the NYCC elections on May 4th. Two divisions (Stillington and Thirsk) were uncontested and there were gains for us in Filey, Pickering and Norton.
In the last decade there has been a 43% increase in the number of people detained under the current Mental Health Act – which raises concerns that vulnerable people are being subject to detention, including in police cells, unnecessarily.
The Prime Minister has called a General Election for Thursday 8th June.

At the Executive Council meeting held on 19th January 2017 the Executive approved the creation of our own CPF Group. There are over 250 CPF groups around the country and their purpose is to give Party members the opportunity to discuss policies and the major policy challenges facing Britain.
Guest Speaker, Jacob Rees-Mogg Member of Parliament for North East Somerset, spoke at an Association Dinner on Friday 7th October. 60 Patrons and Members of Thirsk and Malton Conservatives attended the event which was held at the Ham and Cheese in Scagglethorpe.
Over 30 members and supporters joined Association Chairman, Martin Dales and Thirsk and Malton MP, Kevin Hollinrake for the Inaugural Drink Tank at the George Hotel, Easingwold on Friday 30th September.
